Weather Islet

1. Scope

This policy applies to Weather Islet on iPhone and iPad. It describes the app’s handling of location, weather, first-experience status, preferences, subscriptions and support messages. It does not apply to other iPocket apps.

Weather Islet does not require an iPocket account. The current app does not include third-party advertising, general-purpose behavioral analytics, or cross-app tracking SDKs. iPocket does not sell your location or weather choices for advertising.

Visiting this page or the product website is separate from using the app. Website hosting, traffic measurement, and Cookie controls are described in the iPocket website privacy policy. Website analytics do not receive your saved cities or weather cache from the app.

2. Location and city search

Location permission is optional. The app asks for While Using the App access only when you choose to use your current location; it does not request continuous background location access. You can search for, save and select a city without sharing your device’s position. Fetching that city’s weather requires Pro. The one-time free weather experience applies only to your current location. You can revoke location permission in iOS Settings at any time; new location requests then require permission again.

City search and place-name lookup use Apple MapKit. Your search terms and the place being looked up may be sent to Apple to answer those requests. The app saves cities you add, your selected city, and their coordinates on your device. The latest current-location result may appear in a local weather cache; the app does not create a route or location-history log.

3. Weather requests and local storage

The app makes new weather requests only when the unused free experience or active Pro access allows them. It sends the required location coordinates to Apple WeatherKit. Apple returns current conditions and forecasts, which Weather Islet uses to display readings and animate the island’s light, clouds, rain, snow, wind and seasonal appearance. For Pro users, weather may also refresh automatically as data ages while the app is in use. Viewing a usable cached reading does not necessarily make a new request.

First-experience status. Without a subscription, you can successfully fetch current-location weather once for free. Failed location requests, network errors, timeouts and cancellations do not use this opportunity. After success, further updates and weather in other cities require active Pro access. The app saves a local completion flag to enforce this rule, including when the first successful fetch happens during a subscription. The flag contains no location, query history or identifier for cross-device tracking, and is not sent to an iPocket server. It is stored separately from the weather cache and is not reset by restarting the app or clearing cached weather.

Weather cache. Recent weather, place information and local visual state may be stored on the device so they can be displayed again quickly. Weather data is used for display for at most 24 hours, with its data age shown, and is no longer usable after it expires. Ending a subscription does not keep old readings up to date. Cache validity is not a file-deletion deadline: files may remain until overwritten, cleared by the system or removed with app data.

Saved cities are kept in app-specific local storage. First-experience status, units, ambient sound and onboarding choices are kept in local preferences. Depending on your system settings, iOS may include some of this data in a device backup and restore it later. The app does not provide its own account-based cloud sync or send this local collection to an iPocket weather server. Pro simulation runs locally: changing simulated weather does not request new live weather, and simulation is clearly separate from the actual forecast.

Weather data is provided by Apple Weather. Apple’s WeatherKit information describes the service and its data sources.

4. Pro subscriptions

Weather Islet Pro uses auto-renewing App Store subscriptions. The app reads products, trial eligibility and verified entitlements through StoreKit to determine access to weather updates and simulation. Personal subscriptions, active trials and family-shared entitlements use the same access check. The one-time free weather update is separate from a subscription trial and does not start a subscription automatically. Review the App Store purchase screen for the price, any price after a trial and the renewal period.

The family yearly plan provides Pro access through Apple Family Sharing. Weather Islet can distinguish purchased access from family-shared access, but this does not share device locations, saved cities, preferences or weather caches between family members. The subscriber manages the subscription through Apple’s subscription settings. Apple manages Family Sharing settings and applicable rules.

Apple App Store and StoreKit handle payment, purchase restoration and transaction records. Apple may also provide developers with transaction, refund and subscription reports. iPocket does not receive your full payment-card details or Apple account password. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings; deleting the app does not cancel it. 5. Support messages

Choosing Contact Support prepares an email draft that you review before sending. It may include the app name and version, iOS version, and device model identifier. You can edit or remove that information. If you send the email, your email provider and iPocket receive the content you chose to send and use it to answer your request.

6. Your choices and deletion

You can select cities manually, revoke location permission, remove saved cities, change units and sound settings, decline Pro and choose not to send support email. Location permission and Pro access are separate: turning off location does not cancel a subscription, and subscribing does not grant location permission.

Deleting Weather Islet and its data removes local files and preferences from that device, including the first-experience flag. Merely removing its Home Screen icon or offloading the app may preserve data; restoring a system backup may restore some records. There is no separate setting to reset the free experience. Deleting local data does not cancel a subscription or remove Apple’s transaction records. Apple may retain weather-service and transaction records under its own policies. Sent email remains with the relevant providers until deleted or otherwise handled.

7. Updates and contact
