PocketSubs
1. Overview
PocketSubs is a subscription and recurring-bill manager for iPhone, iPad, and macOS. It helps you record subscriptions, trials, lifetime purchases, renewal dates, payment history, family cost sharing, reminders, and spending reports.
The core experience does not require a PocketSubs account. PocketSubs is designed to keep your records on your device unless you choose a system or sharing feature that needs data to leave the device, such as enabling iCloud sync, looking up an App Store or website icon, exporting a backup, or connecting a macOS CLI/MCP client.
iPocket does not sell your personal information, use subscription content for targeted advertising, or operate a separate account service for your subscription records. The service providers and user-initiated integrations described below may process the data needed for the feature you choose.
2. Data PocketSubs processes
Depending on the features you use, PocketSubs may process:
- Subscription and recurring-bill details, including service name, plan, price, currency, billing cycle, renewal and cancellation dates, status, auto-renewal choice, website or App Store link, notes, categories, payment methods, and favorite status
- Payment history, including charge amount, currency, payment date, billing period, payment status, and family-share calculations
- Family member names, notes, share amounts, currencies, and avatar images that you choose to add
- Custom categories, payment methods, service icons, App Store metadata, website domains, and images that you choose to import
- Notification, calendar, reminder, display, currency, language, layout, widget, filter, and iCloud settings
- Purchase and entitlement status needed to unlock or restore PocketSubs Pro
This information is used to provide the app’s subscription list, renewal reminders, reports, calendar and reminder integrations, import/export tools, widgets, and related features. PocketSubs does not need access to your email, contacts, or full photo library for the core workflow.
3. Local storage and optional iCloud sync
PocketSubs stores its main records in app-specific storage on the current device. If you enable iCloud sync, the app uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services to synchronize supported records across your Apple devices. Selected preferences use Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Storage for the same purpose.
iCloud data is associated with your Apple account and is handled by Apple’s systems and policies. iPocket does not operate a separate PocketSubs cloud account or require you to create a password. You can turn synchronization off in PocketSubs settings and manage iCloud data through the app and your Apple account settings. Disabling sync does not automatically delete every existing iCloud copy; use the available in-app deletion controls and Apple’s iCloud controls when you want to remove synced data.
4. App Store and website icon lookup
When you use App Store search, App Store URL import, or website icon lookup, PocketSubs sends only the information needed for that lookup. This may include a search phrase, App Store ID, storefront country, website domain, and the artwork URL for a result you select.
App Store metadata and downloaded icons may be stored locally with your records. Website icon requests use the iPocket Favicon Service. These requests can also contain standard network information such as an IP address, which is handled by the relevant service provider. You can enter service information manually and avoid these lookups.
5. Notifications, Calendar, and Reminders
If you grant permission and enable a feature, PocketSubs can schedule local notifications and create, update, or remove renewal events in Apple Calendar or reminders in Apple Reminders. The event or reminder may contain information such as a service name, renewal date, amount, and reminder text.
These records are stored and managed by the operating system and the Apple app you choose. PocketSubs does not need to send your reminder content to an iPocket server. You can decline or later revoke these permissions in system settings; related integrations will then stop or become unavailable.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
PocketSubs Pro purchases, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and restoration are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. PocketSubs receives product, transaction, and entitlement status so it can show purchase options, unlock Pro features, and restore access.
iPocket does not receive your full payment-card number or Apple account password. Apple’s privacy policy and your Apple account settings govern Apple’s processing and retention of payment information.
7. macOS CLI, MCP, and local AI tools
The macOS version includes an optional AI & CLI integration. It is disabled by default and, when enabled, the app listens only for authenticated local connections on the same Mac. The embedded CLI and MCP helper communicate with the running PocketSubs app; they do not open the app’s database directly or send requests to an iPocket server.
If you configure Codex, Claude, or another third-party AI client to use the CLI or MCP server, that client can request the records and reports exposed by the tools, and can submit changes according to PocketSubs’ confirmation flow. Data sent to or processed by that client or its provider is governed by the client’s and provider’s privacy policies. Enable this integration only with providers you trust, and keep it disabled if you do not want an AI tool to access PocketSubs data.
8. Import, export, and sharing
PocketSubs lets you import compatible JSON or CSV data and export records or a complete backup. An exported file may contain subscription details, payment history, family members, categories, payment methods, icons, and selected images. The file is saved or shared only through the destination you choose, such as Files, Finder, email, or another app.
After you export or share a file, its copies are controlled by the destination and any recipients. PocketSubs cannot delete copies that you have sent outside the app. Review the destination before sharing a backup because it may contain sensitive financial and household information.
9. Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you edit or delete them, clear the relevant app data, or remove PocketSubs from the device. Synced copies, Apple purchase records, Calendar and Reminders records, exported files, and copies held by another app or recipient may follow separate retention rules.
You can delete records in PocketSubs, turn off optional integrations, revoke permissions, remove downloaded icons, manage iCloud data through the available controls, and remove the app. If you contact us, we may retain the correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond and meet applicable legal or security obligations.
10. Security
PocketSubs uses the protections provided by iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, including app sandboxing and system-protected local storage. The macOS AI & CLI integration uses a local authenticated connection and stores its credential in protected system storage. No security measure can guarantee absolute security, so keep your device, Apple account, exported backups, and connected AI clients protected.
11. Children’s privacy
PocketSubs is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information in connection with PocketSubs, please contact us.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when PocketSubs’ features, service providers, or data practices change. The revised policy will show a new effective date and may also be described through an app or website update.
